Highly-touted meet is held at USC in Columbia, S.C.

CONWAY, S.C. – Following back-to-back meets in its own backyard at Doug Shaw Stadium in Myrtle Beach, S.C., the last two weeks, the Coastal Carolina women's and men's track & field teams will hit the road to compete in the Weems Baskin Relays this weekend, March 24-25, in Columbia, S.C.

Women's Team

Coastal's women's team will send 21 student-athletes to compete at the two-day event hosted by the South Carolina Gamecocks, using a mix of both new and old Chanticleers to compete in 15 events.

Sprinters Sydney Clemens (100-meters), Alexis Glasco (100-meters), Lauren Gordon (100-meters), Amanda Kinloch (100-meters), Kayla Sweeney (100 and 200-meters), Amelia Canetto (200 and 400-meters), and Brianna Tillman (200 and 400-meters) will be joined by multi-event athletes Nikki Boon (200-meters) and Camryn Lorick (100-meters) in the three sprint events.

Clemens and Glasco will compete in the 100-meter hurdles, while Gordon will race in the 400-meter hurdles. Kinloch and Alyssa Smith will compete for the Chants in both the 100 and 400-meter hurdle events at the Weems Baskin Relays.

In the distance events, sophomore Amilia Wise-Sweat will represent the Teal and Bronze in the 800-meters, while Molly Jones and Ellie Wolski, who finished first and second, respectively, in the 5000-meters at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational last weekend will both race in the 1500-meters this weekend in Columbia.

Led by Kynnedy Dennis in the pole vault and both Zayna Fray-Samuel and Lauralyn Clifford in the hammer throw, Coastal will have 10 Chants compete in the field events.

In addition to the three previously mentioned Chants, CCU will have Boon, Lorick, and Kadasia Evans compete in the high jump event, while Boon will also take part in the javelin and long jump events.

CCU's Mia Lewis, Claire Spiller, and Destiny St. Cyr will all compete in both the long jump and triple jump events and will be joined in the long jump event by Keiran Martin.

Men's Team

The men's squad will have 26 student-athletes head south for the Weems Baskin Relays, across the sprints, hurdles, distance, jumps and throws events.

Returners Reggie Barlow (100 and 200-meters), Ashlund Dixon (100-meters), Albrey Gossett (100-meters), DeShon Harris (200 and 400-meters), DeVonte Harris (200-meters), Robert Johnson (200 and 400-meters), Brendan Kovar (200 and 400-meters), Isaiah Thomas (400-meters), Garrett Wilkins (100 and 400-meters), and Jaquon Williams (200-meters) will be joined by first-year Chants Deondre Hardy (200-meters), AJ McKay Jr. (100-meters), and Adrian Nwakalor (400-meters) in the sprint events at the two-day meet.

Running in the hurdles events will be Braydon Bennett (110-meter hurdles), Gossett (110-meter hurdles), Tyler Graves (110 and 400-meter hurdles), and Williams (110-meter hurdles), while five Chants in Jack Benoit (800-meters), Hunter White (800-meters), Ethan Blackwelder (1500-meters), Tomas Duncan (1500-meters), and Trey Kraimer (1500-meters) will compete over two distance events.

CCU throwers Major Chestnut, Preston Lang, and Chance Tressler will all take part in the discus, while both Lang and Tressler will join Michael Martello in the shot put event.

Martello will also throw the hammer, as will freshman Killian Oberheu, while senior Aaron Keeler will participate in the javelin throw at the nationally-touted meet.

A trio of first-year Chants in Hardy (long jump), McKay Jr. (long jump and triple jump), and Nwakalor (high jump) are set to compete across the three jumps events.
