CONWAY, S.C. – Both the Coastal Carolina men's and women's track & field teams will open up the 2023 outdoor season at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge on March 10-11 at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
The men's team will send a total of 25 student-athletes to the two-day event, headlined by returners
Reggie Barlow,
Major Chestnut,
Tomas Duncan,
Albrey Gossett,
Tyler Graves,
DeShon Harris,
DeVonte Harris,
Robert Johnson,
Michael Martello,
Garrett Wilkins, and
Jaquon Williams.
Barlow (100 and 200-meters), Gossett (200-meters),
Deondre Hardy (100-meters),
DeShon Harris (100-meters),
DeVonte Harris (200 and 400-meters), Johnson (100 and 400-meters),
Brendan Kovar (200 and 400-meters),
Adrian Nwakalor (400-meters), and Wilkins (100 and 200-meters) are all slated to compete in the sprint events.
Three Chants in Gossett (110-meter hurdles), Graves (110-meter hurdles), and Williams (110-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles) will compete in the hurdles events, while the trio will be joined by Wilkins, Kovar, Johnson,
DeVonte Harris,
DeShon Harris, Hardy,
Ashlund Dixon, and Barlow in the sprint relay events.
Competing for the men's team in the distance events will be
Jack Benoit (800-meters),
Ethan Blackwelder (3000-meter steeplechase), Duncan (1500-meters),
Camren Stamp (800-meters),
Isaiah Thomas (800-meters), and
George Werner Jr. (3000-meter steeplechase).
In the field events, Chestnut will compete in the discus throw, while
Aaron Keeler will throw the javelin. Martello is slated to compete in the shot put, discus, and hammer throw events, while newcomers
Preston Lang and
Chance Tressler will join him in both the shot put and discus events.
Newcomer
Killian Oberheu will throw the hammer, while fellow freshman
AJ McKay Jr. will compete in both the long and triple jump events on the weekend.
On the women's side, 21 Chants will participate this weekend at the Myrtle Beach event, led by indoor All-Sun Belt Conference performers
Sydney Clemens,
Brianna Tillman, and
Amilia Wise-Sweat.
Clemens (200-meters),
Amanda Kinloch (200-meters),
Destiny St. Cyr (100-meters), and Tillman (200 and 400-meters) will compete in the sprint events, while
Nikki Boon (100-meter hurdles), Kinloch (100-meer hurdles), and
Alyssa Smith (100 and 400-meter hurdles) will race in the hurdles events on the weekend.
In the distance events,
Amelia Canetto and
Lauren Gordon will race in the 800-meters, while Wise-Sweat and
Taylor Houston will run in the 1500-meters. Fellow Chant
Ashley Rulison will compete in the 5000-meters.
The Chants will have several student-athletes compete in the field events, as
Kynnedy Dennis and
Olivia Lee will take part in the pole vault event, while Boon will throw the shot put.
Kadasia Evans and
Camryn Lorick are set to compete in the high jump event, while
Mia Lewis and
Claire Spiller will compete in both the long and triple jump events.
CCU's
Keiran Martin and St. Cyr will join Lewis and Spiller in the long jump competition, while
Kirsten Maybach and
Zaria Stephens will both compete in the triple jump for the Teal and Bronze.
A handful of Chants in Boon, Canetto, Clemens, Kinloch, St. Cyr, and
Kayla Sweeney will compete in the relay events.
